CIVIL ENGINEERING AND SITE DEVELOPMENT

Pfc. William J. Grabiarz School of Excellence, for the Buffalo Board of Education, Buffalo, NY
Watts was responsible for the plans, specifications, and cost estimates for all civil engineering and site development elements including water, gas, sanitary sewer and storm sewer design/stormwater management for this $33.8 million school. The school was designed to hold 1,200 students and the emphasis was on natural light and open spaces; multimedia library; swimming pool; combination gymnasium and auditorium; internet access in each classroom; and community use after-hours. Our responsibilities also included the integration of the school with athletic fields, "outdoor classrooms", and the existing Northwest Buffalo Community Center on the parcel. Site layout, amenities (fencing and landscaping), and grading were also designed to shelter and enhance local residences adjacent to the project. Additional responsibilities included traffic mitigation and signal warrant analysis, and preliminary roadway design.

Center for Environmental Sciences Technology Management, State University of New York at Albany, NY

Watts was responsible for preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for all civil engineering elements. This included water, gas, electric, communications, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer. As part of our responsibility for the storm sewer system, we developed an overall stormwater management plan for the site addressing both quantity and quality of stormwater runoff.

Barnes & Noble Bookstore, State University of New York College at Buffalo, NY
Watts provided civil engineering and site development services for the renovations to the existing student center and a new 10,000 square foot addition for a Barnes & Noble Book Store. Watts was responsible for the preparation of plans, specifications and cost estimates for the loading facilities, sidewalks, drainage, grading and utility improvements.

These services included layout and design of all exterior paving, drives, parking, sidewalks and retaining walls for the 4.12 acre project site. These services also included all grading and utility design for drainage, water supply, sanitary sewer, gas and electric services, and coordination with utility companies. We are responsible for the preparation of final construction documents for building layout and site improvements, grading, utilities, drainage including technical specifications.
