The State University Construction Fund (SUCF) retained Watts to design and administer the construction contract to renovate Founders Plaza and the Academic Spine at the SUNY at Buffalo North Campus. The Campus asked us to emulate the original design and make improvements to the planting, lighting, and utilities. We used tinted bands of concrete pavement which contrast with the larger exposed aggregate concrete panels similar to the original Sasaki Associates, Inc. 1973 design Landscape architecture analysis resulted in granite curbed raised bed planters replacing tree pits. Utility replacements included new chilled water services, irrigation piping, storm drainage, and lighting. The project included hazardous materials abatement and miscellaneous replacement of railings and metal grating. Watts provided a NICET Level IV on site resident during construction to manage the project.
