Replacement of Route 38 Bridge over Owasco Inlet, Locke, NY
Watts is the prime consultant and is completely responsible for Phases I-VI of this bridge replacement project.
The bridge carries two lanes of traffic over the Owasco Inlet and has a span length of 65 feet. Our scope of services includes oversight of the survey, mapping, and ROW acquisitions; development and evaluation of design alternatives; development of the Design Approval Document; conducting the public information meeting; preparation of the environmental studies; and preliminary and final bridge design, including the highway approaches, a fishing access area and removal of a railroad bridge. The estimated construction cost is $1.5 million and is scheduled for construction in 2000.
Reconstruction of Babcock St., Seneca St. to Clinton St., Buffalo, NY
This RDSA assignment, for which Watts is completely responsible, involves the elimination of a multi-span structure, replacement with an at-grade railroad crossing, and the complete reconstruction of approximately 1400 feet of city street, including the replacement of a 10 inch diameter water main. Watts prepared all the preliminary engineering work and the Design Report. We have also prepared the Asbestos Assessment and an extensive Hazardous Waste/Contaminated Materials Investigation. Our efforts included coordination with the City of Buffalo Department of Public Works, the Division of Water, and Conrail. Watts prepared the graphics for, and participated in the public information meeting. We also prepared the PS&E package. The estimated construction cost is $2.5 million and is scheduled for construction in 2000.
Replacement of the Latta Road Bridge over the Lake Ontario State Parkway, Rochester, NY
Watts, as a subconsultant, is completely responsible for the final design of the Latta Road bridge over the Lake Ontario State Parkway (LOSP). This two-span bridge carries two lanes of traffic and has an overall length of 174 feet. Our scope of services includes preparation of the final plans, specifications and estimate for the new bridge. The estimated construction cost for the Latta Road bridge is $2.0 million and is scheduled for construction in 2000. Watts is also preparing the plans for the removal of an abandoned railroad bridge over the LOSP and for the Stutson Street Bascule Bridge over the Genesee River. We are designing cantilevered retaining walls at a municipal parking lot and 1000 feet of cast-in-place privacy walls with brick veneer along the new Stutson Street. We are responsible for the asbestos assessment of 21 structures and the detailed investigation for hazardous waste/contaminated materials.
Amherst Municipal Complex Parkway, Amherst, NY
Watts was selected by the Town of Amherst to provide design services, bid administration and construction support services for the development of improved access to the John James Audubon Parkway Municipal Complex. Watts designed and prepared the contract documents for a four lane divided parkway to provide safe and efficient access, to improve circulation within and enhance the visual quality of the Municipal Complex. The construction contract was completed to coincide with the opening of a new Senior Citizen's Center within the complex in October 2000.
